Cole is currently working as an academy coach at Chelsea having set his sights on a career in the dugout after retiring from playing.

But the 38-year-old has now been offered the chance to rejoin the club where he started his career to work under Moyes.

The Scot is still looking at bringing in two more staff members having taken over on an 18-month contract at the turn of the year.

But Stuart Pearce has claimed West Ham’s owners have blocked him from returning for a second spell as a coach.

Asked whether he could reunite with Moyes, Pearce told talkSPORT: “No, It won’t happen.

“I think the owners felt I was a little bit critical of the regime when we left last time and put the block on it.

“They make decisions, they own the club, and so you respect that and I respect that.

“They were prepared and were humble to pick up to pick the phone up and say to David: ‘Will you come back in?’

“I’m just delighted to see Dave back working and working in the Premier League, which I think his talents deserve.”
