NEWCASTLE manager Steve Bruce hopes Zlatan Ibrahimovic can help him land AC Milan striker Krzysztof Piatek.
Bruce is in talks with the Serie A club over the Polish forward, 24, whose place is under threat after the arrival of Swedish legend Ibrahimovic.
Newcastle are hoping Ibrahimovic’s arrival at AC Milan will help them land Piatek
Piatek signed from Genoa for £30million in the summer and has scored 13 goals in 35 Serie A games.
The Toon have toiled for goals this season, scoring 20 in 21 Premier League games.
They have money but they would rather take Piatek on loan with an option to buy.
Newcastle could then let Dwight Gayle leave.
Ibrahimovic made his AC Milan debut on Friday night, scoring and adding an assist as his side thrashed sixth-tier Italian club Rhodense 9-0 in a friendly.
The forward played for Milan between 2010 and 2012 and helped them to clinch their last Serie A title.
And the club’s fans seemed delighted to welcome him back as hundreds waited outside the Casa Milan HQ to greet him as he held aloft the No.21 jersey.
Ibrahimovic, who left LA Galaxy in November after 52 goals in 56 games, was replaced by Piatek at the break against Rhodense.
Toon target Piatek scored twice.
