West Ham boss David Moyes has got hairdryer ready for hot and cold Hammers, reveals midfielder Declan Rice

DECLAN RICE reckons David Moyes has got the hairdryer at the ready to stop West Ham blowing hot and cold.

Moyes got his second spell as Hammers manager off to an impressive start with a 4-0 thumping of Bournemouth on New Year’s Day.

It was the club’s biggest win in 12 years and the players were noticeably running further and working harder compared to their performances under former boss Manuel Pellegrini.

But midfielder Rice, who played under Moyes the first time around, warned the squad they must keep it up or face the Scot’s wrath.

The England ace copped a Moyes blast in the 4-1 loss at Arsenal in April 2018, after his error saw Aaron Ramsey make it 2-1 late on before West Ham collapsed.

Rice, who was 19 at the time, recalled: “I ducked for the ball, missed a header and the ball went in.

“Afterwards he came for me in the changing room in front of the lads. It was the hairdryer treatment!

“But I took it well and I think he wanted to see how I reacted to it. I was only young then but it was rightly deserved.

“If he gives me criticism you have got to take it on the chin because he is only doing it because he wants to help.

“I think that is the way forward and what we are all looking forward to.”

Moyes, 56, was hired on a short-term deal in November 2017 and kept the club up — but he was replaced by Pellegrini at the end of the season.

David Moyes says he has unfinished business at West Ham as he speaks in first press conference

Now he is back on a permanent basis and Rice, 20, feels the Glaswegian can improve the side.

He added: “Last time he got us playing well and didn’t get a chance.

“Now he’s got an 18-month contract and hopefully he can build something. We’re excited.”
