HUDDERSFIELD boss Danny Cowley has pledged his Championship club will hunt down the club’ supporters who directed IRA chants at Stoke City’s James McClean.
Londonderry–born Republic of Ireland attacker McClean reported the chants from home sections of the support at the John Smith Stadium.

The FA have already been forced to open an investigation into abuse the winger received when he played a game at Barnsley earlier in the season,
Referee James Linington topped the game to speak to Cowley and Stoke manager Michael O’Neil who currently still takes charges of the Northern Ireland international team.
An announcement was then made over the stadium tannoy warning against “offensive behaviour” within the stadium.
Huddersfield boss Cowley said : “This is the year 2020 and there should be no place for sectarianism or racism in football.
“We condemn any such behaviour and the club will launch an investigation to find the people who did this.”
MCClean has faced abuse for several years over his refusal to wear football shirts adorned with the Rememberance Day poppy.
O’Neil said : “James is now being encouraged to report the sectarian abuse he has been subjected to for some time.
“There should be no place for abuse of any kind – he has been targeted for his background and it is unacceptable.”
