Fears Harry Kane could be out for weeks after being forced off against Southampton with hamstring injury

HARRY KANE looks set to miss the rest of the month after suffering a hamstring injury against Southampton.

The Tottenham striker pulled up as he scored an offside goal late in the game at St Mary’s on Wednesday.

Kane latched on to a free-kick from Christian Eriksen to fire in an equaliser for his side.

But the England captain quickly limped away from the goal mouth clutching his hamstring.

And he was forced to come off for Erik Lamela as his strike was ruled out for offside by VAR.

Jose Mourinho was left incensed by the double blow, and soon received a yellow card for peeking at the Southampton bench’s tactics.

The home side went on to close out a 1-0 win, their third in four games.

However, the result condemned Spurs to their second defeat in four matches.

And Kane is now a serious doubt for Sunday’s FA Cup trip to Middlesbrough.

The forward’s setback could now prompt Mourinho into signing a new striker.

Spurs have been left short on options in attack after Fernando Llorente departed on a free transfer to Napoli last summer.

Son Heung-Min and Lucas Moura were all used as makeshift strikers by Mourinho’s predecessor Mauricio Pochettino.

But they all lack the physical attributes Mourinho loves in a centre-forward.

Youngster Troy Parrott could be thrust into the limelight in the meantime.

However, Daniel Levy could soon find himself being forced to splash out on a new No 9 to get Spurs through tough January clashes against the likes of Liverpool, Watford and Norwich.
