How Chelsea will line-up at Brighton but will Lampard stick with five at back which flopped in Arsenal win?

FRANK LAMPARD’S side will look to ride the crest of a wave when they travel to Brighton on New Year’s Day.

The Blues saw off Arsenal 2-1 thanks to late goals from Jorginho and Tammy Abraham to ruin Mikel Arteta’s return to the Emirates.

Lampard originally went with five at the back but changed things up when it became clear it wasn’t working.

Willian provided an absolute masterclass and Jorginho – who came on for Emerson in the 35th minute – impressed as well.

It is unlikely Lampard will have five at the back still, reverting to a more compact 4-3-3 which worked wonders against Arsenal.

Fikayo Tomori could go at right back again or Cesar Azpilicueta may slot in there.

Lampard is likely to go with his trusted midfield three of Jorginho, N’Golo Kante and Mateo Kovacic, with the latter two excelling in recent weeks.

Mason Mount, Tammy Abraham and Willian will provide the attacking threat.

It’s likely Lampard will demand a more fiery performance from his players against Graham Potter’s side having blasted them at half-time of the win against the Gunners.

He said: “From my point of view you can accept a miss-pass but you can’t accept lethargy in a London derby. The players were told that and they delivered.

“The second half was nothing to do with tactics it was all to do with spirit and desire. I still haven’t bounced back from Boxing Day mentally (loss to Southampton).

“Our next home games we’ll do everything we can to turn the corner.

“We’re still in fourth and want more and the home games have been different so we have to focus on them when they come around.”
