How Atletico Madrid could line up with deadly trio of Cavani, Costa and Felix after agreeing transfer for PSG star

THIS is how Atletico Madrid could line up next season after reportedly agreeing a deal to sign Edinson Cavani on a free transfer in 2020.

It’s believed the Uruguayan will leave Paris Saint-Germain when his contract expires in the summer.

And Atletico are understood to have secured his signature on a three-year deal, beating the likes of Inter Milan and David Beckham’s new MLS outfit Inter Miami.

Cavani, 32, is still regarded as one of the world’s deadliest strikers after entering his seventh season at the Parc des Princes.

Cavani has scored an incredible 196 goals in 289 appearances for PSG, winning five Ligue 1 titles, four French Cups, five League Cups and four Champions Trophies in the process.

Before that, he netted 104 times in 138 games for Napoli and has also scored 50 times in 116 caps for Uruguay.

Atletico already have a number of forwards on their books, including Diego Costa, Alvaro Morata and Joao Felix.

But Cavani is sure to slot straight into Diego Simeone’s side, with Atletico struggling for goals in La Liga this term with just 20 in 18 matches.

Morata has done fairly well since joining from Chelsea, but Simeone is likely to partner Cavani with Costa.

His aggressive nature would work well alongside Cavani’s own excellent workrate, and goals a-plenty are virtually assured.

Cavani’s arrival in the side could see Felix drop into midfield, where he would surely thrive cutting inside from the left wing.

Covering his runs would be centre-midfielder Saul, with Thomas Partey protecting the defender and Koke providing crosses from the right.

In defence, Renan Lodi is sure to be secure as Atletico’s left-back, meaning Mario Hermoso could partner Jose Gimenez in the middle with Kieran Trippier on the right and Jan Oblak continuing in goal.
