And McGregor took part in an exhibition bout against John Joe Nevin on the club’s Christmas show.

Pictures released by the 31-year-old southpaw reveal him kitted out in all black as he spars Nevin with legendary Irish amateur boxer Phil Sutcliffe in the UFC star’s corner.

It comes after McGregor boxed amateur Michael McGrane in April on Crumlin’s Good Friday show.

He wrote on Instagram: “Great exhibition bout at the Crumlin B.C Christmas show against John Joe Nevin. Big lad is John Joe, thank you for the rounds! Happy Christmas.”

The former two-weight UFC champion started training at the club when he was 10, winning the Dublin Novice Championships as a 16-year-old, before dropping boxing for MMA.

McGregor lost his ring debut against Floyd Mayweather in a 2017 money-spinning crossover bout.

But in an interview with ESPN this year, The Notorious admitted he regrets not returning to Crumlin ABC and training with two-time Olympian Sutcliffe for the mega-fight in Las Vegas.

McGregor said: “It was only when I got back there that I realised how much of a grave error I made in the Mayweather build-up.

“I needed the coaches who taught me how to box in my corner and I realised that instantly when I was down there doing training sessions.”

McGregor has regularly been posting snaps of him training in his first-ever boxing club but it is not yet confirmed whether Sutcliffe will be in the Irishman’s corner against Cerrone.

The Notorious has been out the cage since October 2018 after he was submitted by bitter rival Khabib Nurmagomedov.

An injury to his left hand in sparring also halted a return bout in 2019, with the Cerrone match-up backdated till 2020.
