Ampadu had been famous for his eye-catching hair since bursting onto the scene at Stamford Bridge last year.
But the Wales international will look drastically different next time he steps on a football pitch after ditching the long locks for a fade.
In a video posted by celebrity barber HD Cutz – who also cuts hair for Raheem Sterling, Gabriel Jesus and Usain Bolt – Ampadu is seen arriving at a hotel room.
The video shows the barber, real name Sheldon Edwards, chopping off Ampadu’s hair with scissors before going at it with his clippers.
In a comment on the Instagram post, Edwards wrote: “Change. It is always inevitable.
“Never be afraid to make Your Personal transition, It will create a new perspective…”
Ampadu is yet to make any comment on the new do.
In an interview with SunSport last year, Edwards revealed how he has become a barber to the stars.
He said: “It’s a networking thing. Once you get your foot in the door you develop a trust and that means a lot to the players.”
The Jamaican-born barber, whose shop is in Battersea, south-west London, is flown all around the country – and the world – to see to his clients.

“After I do the school run, I’m gone,” he added, “I could be in Manchester, Rome, Spain, Germany. I can be anywhere, all over the country.
“Because of Raheem, I’ve got eight or nine players at Manchester City.
“Because of [Antonio] Rudiger, I’ve got seven or eight players at Chelsea.”
