TOTTENHAM have begun talks with Flamengo to try and make midfielder Gerson Jose Mourinho’s first signing at the club.
The 22-year-old returned to his native Brazil last summer after failing to impress during aa three-year stint with Roma.

But his form since returning to South America has earned rave reviews as he helped Flamengo to their most-successful season ever.
And according to 90min, that has convinced Spurs to offer the youngster another opportunity to crack Europe.
Their report states discussions are already underway between the Premier League and Brazilian club and that the Premier League giants want a deal sorted as soon as the January transfer window opens.
And that could result in Gerson becoming the first arrival since Mourinho took charge.
However, Spurs are believed to have told Flamengo they would be happy to let the Samba star remain in South America with them until the summer.
That would enable him to feature in the first stages of the Campeonato Carioca and the Copa Libertadores.
But they are desperate to get an agreement sorted in order to secure the services of Gerson before any of their rivals.
The former Fluminense man is currently getting over the heartbreak of losing to Liverpool in last night’s Club World Cup Final.
He was subbed in extra-time as Roberto Firmino sealed the prize for Jurgen Klopp’s men.
Gerson had helped his team to Copa Libertadores, Campeonato Carioca and Brasileirao success earlier in 2019.
