Arsenal Supporters Alliance lay down list of demands to Mikel Arteta including banning players from wearing headphones

A PROMINENT Arsenal supporters’ group have laid a list of demands to new boss Mikel Arteta that includes banning players from wearing headphones.

The Spaniard, making his first foray into management, had been handed a remarkably tough task of turning around a Gunners side that have won just one in their last 12.

Arteta will be in the stands at Everton for the trip to Goodison Park today before taking training for the first time on Monday.

His first game will then be at Bournemouth on Boxing Day where fans hope the team will arrive suited and booted.

And ahead of the start of his tenure, Arsenal Supporters Alliance believe they can get him on the right track right away with a few simple changes.

They released the statement: “Welcome back to The Arsenal, Mikel Arteta! We wish you every success in your new role

“May your tenure deliver many memorable moments for all associated with our great club.

“Over the past few years it is clear that a lot of the club’s values and traditions have been cast aside, which has resulted in the current state of affairs.

“As such we believe now is an opportune time to reintroduce pride and class back to The Arsenal, which can be achieved by having club employees represent us in a right a proper way.

“We humbly submit some simple changes which can put us back on the right path:

“A genuine engagement with supporters.

“Captain to choose shirt sleeve length.

“Team arriving in suits and minus headphones.

“Applauding all sides of the stadium pre-match.

“All players acknowledging away support. #RememberWhoYouAre #WeCareDoYou”

Fans have been left furious with the attitudes of their players this season most recently Mesut Ozil after strolling off at a snail’s pace in the defeat against Man City.

And it appears Arteta is ready to lay down the law by vowing to be ruthless – just like Pep Guardiola.

He warned: “What I mostly learned from Pep Guardiola is that you have to be ruthless and you have to work every day to create a winning mentality.

“I want people to take responsibility for their jobs and people who deliver passion and energy.

“Anyone who doesn’t buy into this, or who has a negative effect, is not good enough for this environment or this culture.

“Respect issues have to be addressed. If they want to follow that they are in. If not, they are out.”
