NEYMAR’S transfer value has dropped for the first time in his career.
The Brazilian has had a rocky campaign for Paris Saint-Germain and that has been reflected in his latest valuation.
Neymar’s historic transfer value, according to Transfermarkt.com
Neymar’s professional career started at Santos in 2009 when he was promoted from the youth team and at that stage he was valued at £900,000 by Transfermarkt.
From then on, his value rose year on year and only stagnated from 2016-17 at £90m when he was at Barcelona.
The biggest rise was between 2017 and 2018 when it went from £90m to £162m at PSG.
His first club Santos sold Neymar to Barca in 2013, in a deal which the true value is shrouded in mystery.
He is believed to have moved for around £73m but that figure could be more based on reported settlements Barca made with Santos.
However, his 2013 Transfermarkt value was set at £45m.
In the following years – when Neymar alongside Lionel Messi arguably produced the best form of his career at Barcelona – his value soared.
It spiked sharply between 2013 and 2014 from £45m to £63m.
And his value began to climb again and sat at a whopping £90m in 2017 – the year he moved from Barca to PSG for £198m.
Although the Brazilian star has cut a somewhat unhappy figure during his time in France, his involvement in PSG’s title win during his first season saw his total value soar again to its highest in his career – a staggering £162m in June 2018.
But after a rocky year which saw fresh rumours of a return to Barcelona and a fall-out with PSG boss Thomas Tuchel, his value has dropped back down to a mere £144m in the latest December update.
