Who is Ramiro Funes Mori’s identical twin brother Rogelio? Ex-Everton star’s sibling faces Liverpool in Club World Cup

LIVERPOOL face Monterrey in the Club World Cup semi-final and Reds fans may be forgiven for thinking an Everton old boy was appearing for the opposition.

Yet the man who plays as a striker for the Mexicans is not Ramiro Funes Mori, but his identical half brother Rogelio.

Who is Rogelio Funes Mori?

Rogelio Funes Mori was born in Mendoza, Argentina on March 5, 1991 – as was Ramiro – to father Miguel, who was a professional footballer in the Argentine lower leagues.

Both brothers moved to the United States in 2001, attending Arlington High School in Texas.

In 2008, they appeared on the reality show Sueno MLS – MLS Dream – with both brothers being spotted by a Chelsea scout.

Rogelio won the competition but both brothers ultimately signed for FC Dallas.

A year later, the Funes Moris joined River Plate in Argentina, where Rogelio would remain until 2013 when he joined Benfica.

Ramiro stayed at River Plate for two further years before joining Everton.

Rogelio spent two unsuccessful years in Portugal, but did manage to score 13 goals in 12 games for Benfica’s B team before moving to Monterrey in 2015.

There, he appears to be right at home, having made almost 200 appearances and averaging more than a goal per game.
