And the legendary 202 cap star beamed as she announced her pregnancy live on air.

Solo also revealed that her and her husband, former NFL star Jerramy Stevens, are expecting twins.

And that they will practising equality from day one, with one twin expected to be a boy, and the other a girl.

She said, clutching her baby bump: “Yes, my husband and I get to practise equality from the very beginning with one boy and one girl.

“Miniature soccer team on the way.”

Solo revealed in June the tragic news that after a long period of trying for a baby, she had suffered a miscarriage.

She told Elle at the time: “The doctor said I was hours from dying.

“They ended up having to remove my Fallopian tube.”

Solo spent much of her summer in France as part of the BBC’s Women’s World Cup punditry team.

And she has rarely hidden her outspoken views in the past.

In 2016 she was handed a six month ban by USA Soccer for labelling the Swedish Olympic team as a “bunch of cowards” after they knocked the US out on penalties.

It is unknown as to whether Solo will remain a regular as a TV pundit, or whether she will elect to stay at home more after starting a family.
