Watch as giant boxer Ruann Visser topples out of ring BEFORE title fight after top rope snaps in freak accident

A SOUTH AFRICAN heavyweight boxer was pulled out of his title fight before a punch was thrown after being involved in a freak accident.

Visser, a 6ft 9in brute, was set to defend his heavyweight title against Tian Fick when he headed inside the ring in Cape Town on Monday.

As he bounced against the ropes before the fight, one of them gave away causing him to fall out of the ring.

He managed to grab the middle rope with his left hand which prevented him from landing on his neck or back.

Visser, who sparred with Wladimir Klitschko, was left with pain in his left arm and knee and was forced to pull out of the fight on doctor’s orders.

Nefdt Visser, his father and manager, said: “He’s full of bruises. His left arm is really stiff and sore.”

The boxer now wants to “make someone pay” for the error as Boxing SA (BSA) launch an investigation into the matter.

He warned: “I will sit down with BSA, I will sit down with my legal team.

“The system’s failing in boxing… it’s time someone pays for their mistake.”

Tsholofelo Lejaka of the BSA added: “We need to understand what went wrong. Was it human error or structural deficiency?

“A boxer needs to know when he get into a ring that he’s safe.”
