Erling Haaland ‘tells Solskjaer he wants to sign for Man Utd’ as RB Salzburg forward looks to defy agent Raiola’s wishes

ERLING HAALAND has reportedly told Ole Gunnar Solskjaer that he wants to join Manchester United.

The Red Bull Salzburg striker has held talks with Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig as the January window approaches.

But the Mirror claims that Haaland, 19, wants to link up with countryman Solskjaer if he moves this winter.

Mino Raiola is the prolific whizkid’s agent and reportedly prefers Juventus for his client.

But Solskjaer is pushing hard for £80million-rated Haaland, who he worked with at Molde, to join his Old Trafford revolution.

It has been claimed the United boss flew to Salzburg for talks on Friday as he attempts to secure a huge coup.

The Premier League outfit have more than enough money to compete with Dortmund but Leipzig’s Red Bull connection will be a concern.

Haaland missed Salzburg’s final game before the winter break and it is believed he has played his last match for the Austrian club.

Solskjaer has been desperate to add a striker after losing Romelu Lukaku over the summer and has a £250m war chest to rebuild his squad.

Juventus outcast Mario Mandzukic had been considered for a January swoop but there are concerns about the Croat’s fitness.

And Haaland, who has 28 goals in 22 games for Salzburg this season, would offer a far more exciting option – joining Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial in a formidable attacking trident.

Solskjaer has boosted his position at Old Trafford in recent weeks after beating Manchester City and Tottenham before completing a solid Europa League group campaign with a 4-0 thumping of AZ Alkmaar.
