Hero Ben Foster rescues stricken Watford fan, 80, who fell in ditch after car broke down and offers him season ticket

BEN FOSTER turned into a hero for one elderly Watford fan — rescuing him from a ditch.

The generous Hornets stopper pulled over to help an 80-year-old dementia sufferer after he decided to walk home following problems with his car.

The story of former Manchester United, West Brom and England keeper Foster’s generosity has gone viral on social media.

After their 0-0 draw against Crystal Palace, Foster, his wife Kate and dad were driving down a dual carriageway when they saw the unnamed man walking down a dual carriageway, before turning around to help.

The story shared by Dior Angus on Twitter said: “He’s been a season ticket holder for like 60 years.

“He’s 80. Early sufferer of dementia so he’s going to have to stop going soon.

“He left the ground, went to start his car. Flat battery.

“God knows why but he thought he would walk 10 miles home. Gets down this dark dual carriageway.

“Falls down into a ditch. Car pulls over to help him.

“It’s Ben Foster, his Mrs and his dad.

“Said they had seen him about a mile back and they all said something didn’t seem right him walking on his own in the dark so they came back round to find him and he was lying in the ditch.

“Took him home and cleaned him up.

“Asked what he’s doing for Christmas and he’s welcome to theirs if he’s gonna be alone.

“Ben said he would sort his season ticket for next season if he can still go.”

Foster was in action for bottom-of-the-table Watford as they lost 2-0 at Anfield on Saturday.

They have won just one game in the Premier League this season and currently have just nine points, six points behind Aston Villa in 17th.
