JESSE LINGARD had to be subbed against Everton after team-mate Dan James blasted the ball off his face.
United were one down thanks to VAR controversially allowing Victor Lindelof’s own goal to stand when James unleashed a fearsome effort inside the box.

But Everton keeper Jordan Pickford breathed a sigh of relief when Lingard – stood just yards away from his team-mate – got in the way.
The United star, 27, took the full force of the shot in his face and was left in a heap on the floor.
Medics rushed on to the pitch with Lingard clearly dazed as they checked on him.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer replaced the disorientated midfielder just moments later for teen hotshot Mason Greenwood.
And his substitution paid off, with Greenwood, 18, scoring the equaliser 12 minutes later.
Lingard, 27, recently spoke of how caring for his two younger siblings and one-year-old daughter while his mum battles illness has taken its toll on him.
The £100,000-a-week England ace revealed his poor form is down to his stressful life at home.
He stepped in to care for brother Jasper, 14, and sister Daisy-Boo, 11, after their mum Kirsty fell ill.
Jasper is now living with Lingard and being schooled at his house.
Lingard, who has attended parents’ evenings, added: “My mum has had some things for years but never really got help. Now she is.”
Fans were intrigued when Lingard recently posted a snap on Instagram of him pushing a pram.
His one-year-old’s mum is Rebecca Halliday, 34, an operations manager with a personal training firm.
She met Lingard on a night out in Manchester and soon fell pregnant.
The pair are no longer an item but remain on good terms.
