Paul Pogba to finally return to Man Utd training next week after more than two months out with ankle injury

MANCHESTER UNITED star Paul Pogba is set to return to training next week after more than two months out with an ankle injury.

The French midfielder has played just six times so far this season and has not featured since The Red Devils drew 1-1 with Arsenal at the end of September.

And ahead of his side’s game against Everton on Sunday, manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is positive about Pogba’s chances of returning to fitness.

He said: “Paul will probably start training with us next week properly.”

Pogba will face stiff competition to get back into the team given Scott McTominay has been flourishing in his absence.

Brazilian Fred also put in his best performance in a United shirt in the team’s 2-1 victory over rivals Manchester City last weekend.

United currently sit fifth in the Premier League and are unbeaten in five games – a run which stretches back to the beginning of November.

Meanwhile, Solskjaer also revealed Jesse Lingard will face a late fitness test to determine whether or not he will miss the side’s clash with Everton on Sunday.

“I’m not sure on Jesse but I hope. He wasn’t training today so we’ll check him on Saturday probably,” he added.

“He’s really come good now. He’s been fit, he’s been training well, so we hope so.”

Other long-term absentees who could return to training soon include Eric Bailly and Timothy Fosu-Mensah, both of whom are recovering from knee problems.

United’s clash with Everton kicks off at 2pm at Old Trafford on Sunday, with live coverage of the game on Sky Sports Main Event from 1pm.
