Kingsley Coman suffers horror knee injury in freak incident during Bayern win over Spurs with fears he faces months out

BAYERN MUNICH could be without Kingsley Coman for months after the winger suffered a nasty knee injury versus Tottenham on Wednesday.

The French winger was running with the ball unchallenged when his left knee appeared to give way on the turf.

Immediately hitting the deck, Coman spent a long time being treated on the pitch before walking off with the help of Bayern physios.

Pictures showed the horror nature of the injury with onlookers suspecting damage to his anterior cruciate ligament.

That would mean a long spell on the sideline for the 23-year-old who previously suffered a major ankle sprain in 2018.

Watching on from the BT Sport studio, Jermaine Jenas recalled his experience with severe knee injuries.

The ex-midfielder said: “It’s a bad one. I have seen what happened and it is not good.

“When I did my ACL I got up and walked off and went to the game that day and walked up and down stairs and was fine. You don’t realise until the testing what you have done.

“If he hasn’t done anything serious, I will be in absolute shock.”

Bayern caretaker boss Hansi Flick said the incident marred his side’s 3-1 win over Tottenham, in which Coman scored the opener.

Flick told reporters: “His injury obviously overshadows the win. We don’t know how serious it is yet, he is still undergoing examinations.”
