Russia’s flag will be absent at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics with proven clean athletes competing under a neutral banner.

Retired London 2012 long-jump ace Rutherford, 33, told talkSPORT2: “It’s unfair. It’s proven they are cheating.

“They have done it at major championships, tarnished major events. I hope sanctions are upheld.

“Russia, as a state-run doping country, don’t care what other people think.

“This is not an individual or a coach — it’s come from the very top.

“If they aren’t naturally better, then they will dope them to get them there.

“It’s unfair. I’m passionate about it. I’ve been in competitions and missed out on a final or prize money as an active doper beat you to a position.

“Previous dopers are now not showing traces of doping but came through the system before.”
