Beach Volleyball Awards Best Male Offensive Player of 2018/2019 – Anders Mol

Alongside Christian Sorum, the Norwegian pair were a slick combination of Mol’s power at the front of the court and Sorum’s agility at the back. It meant that the 22-year-old was able to dominate opponents at the net, using his 200cm-tall frame to power down winning balls, or squeeze a delicate shot through a seemingly impenetrable defence.

Such offensive power meant that Mol and Sorum finished the season with another eight FIVB gold medals in their collection, as well as the crown of best in Europe having won CEV European Championships gold in Moscow.

Frustratingly they failed to win gold at the Hamburg 2019 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships which they left with bronze, and it was a similar result at the Rome 2019 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour Finals.

Tokyo 2020 is their next major target and Mol and Sorum are first in the FIVB Olympic Rankings, and en route for their Olympic debut. Mol has shown that he loves the spotlight, so opponents beware, because there is none bigger than the Olympics.
