Jose Mourinho ordered Tottenham scouts to watch Roma star Edin Dzeko in win at Verona ahead of January transfer window

JOSE MOURINHO sent scouts to watch Roma ace Edin Dzeko ahead of a potential January transfer, according to reports.

The Special One reportedly sent staff to Italy last week to watch the ex-Manchester City striker in action during Roma’s 3-1 win at Verona.

Mourinho is looking to ease the load on Harry Kane and sent scouts to see if Dzeko would be a suitable candidate, according to the Mirror.

Dzeko played 86 minutes for Paolo Fonseca’s team before he was replaced by ex-Spurs man Federico Fazio.

However, Tottenham may have to shell out a considerable sum for the 33-year-old who recently signed a contract extension that keeps him with Roma for the next two seasons.

But Spurs need to find cover for Kane as the only other recognised striker in their squad is teenager Troy Parrott.

Fernando Llorente was the go-to guy last season but his contract ran down and he now plays for Roma’s Serie A rivals Napoli.

Dzeko has been with Roma since his £10million move from City in 2016.

And the Bosnian international – who has eight goals from 19 games in all competitions this season – could still have one big move left in him if Mourinho has anything to do with it.

Mourinho’s former club Manchester United are also said to be interested in the striker and will consider him if they fail to secure a deal for Juventus’ Mario Mandzukic.
