Gareth Southgate rejects fly-on-the-wall Amazon Prime Video England documentary after Spurs and Man City welcome cameras

ENGLAND turned down the chance to have their Euro 2020 campaign filmed for a behind-the-scenes Amazon documentary.

The streaming giant wanted to make the Three Lions the subject of a Manchester City-style programme this summer.

But footie chiefs snubbed the offer as they want to focus on ensuring their campaign goes well.

An FA source told The Times: “We have had a number of these requests but we are not getting involved in any of them.”

Tottenham are the latest team to get the treatment after the success of City’s All or Nothing link-up.

But Manchester United refused to allow Amazon to film Jose Mourinho in the Old Trafford dressing room on Wednesday night.

England could potentially play at Wembley five times at Euro 2020 – including all three of their group games.

The national stadium also holds the semi-finals and final in what is effectively a home tournament for Gareth Southgate’s men.

That made following England an attractive proposition for Amazon but they could not strike a deal.

A source inside the company added: “We would have loved to explore it but we are very much in the hands of the FA and Gareth Southgate.”

England have been drawn in Group D alongside Croatia, who beat them in the World Cup, the Czech Republic and potentially Scotland.

The final opponents will be decided by who comes through the play-offs to take the final spot.

Scotland take on Israel in their semi-final, hoping to meet the winners of Serbia against Norway in a straight fight for the right to take the last spot in Group D.

As a result of Uefa’s complicated structure for the expanded tournament, England know they will face the runners-up of a group in the last 16 whether they finish top or second.
