Shaoxing, China, December 4, 2019 – Imoco Volley Conegliano’s 2-0 winning start at the 2019 FIVB Volleyball Women’s Club World Championship is an impressive debut for the Italian club, but Kimberly Hill thinks that her team’s performance is still a work in progress.
Imoco Conegliano faced tough opponents Eczacibasi VitrA Istanbul and Guangdong Evergrande Volleyball Club, and Hill delivered double-digit performances that helped her squad get the top spot in the Pool A standings. However, Hill believes that the collective efforts of the players and their teamwork is what charts their course for success in the competition.
“The key is working together as a team,” Hill said. “We are strong because we are 14-player strong. We know that we have things to get better at and and we have yet to play our best game in this competition, but we are working on it.”
Taking into account the high level of competitors in the competition, Hill believes that this shared success and collective mentality is keeping her team’s focus on the challenges they will face next.
So far individual performances have had a huge impact on the outcome of their matches, but Hill’s approach leans on enhancing team coordination and strategy.
“We have a long way to go,” Hill pointed out. “I’m happy there are two wins. Obviously it’s fun, but to just keep getting better as a team should be the main focus. It’s exciting to know that we can still play better. We are just excited about the challenging things coming our way.”
