MANCHESTER UNITED will roll out the welcome mat for Jose Mourinho tonight on his return to Old Trafford.
The Special One took over as Tottenham’s new manager last month, his first job since being sacked by the Red Devils in December 2018.
Jose Mourinho will receive a friendly welcome back to Old Trafford tonight
And the 56-year-old has already been invited by United chief Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for a post-match bottle of wine.
Mourinho will also come face-to-face with Ed Woodward for the first time since his sacking.
But the United chief executive was one of the first to congratulate the ex-Chelsea manager when he took over at Spurs.
And it is understood Sir Alex Ferguson is planning to come for a chat after not getting a chance since he cleared his desk.
An Old Trafford source said: “There is no animosity between the pair. It is all very friendly and social.
“Jose and his staff have already been invited for a drink in Ole’s office as is the tradition.
“He’ll also meet up with Ed. They still have a decent relationship despite everything that happened.
“The club also appreciated Jose not sticking the knife in during his time as a pundit with Sky Sports.”
Mourinho has made a solid start to his reign in charge of Spurs, winning all three of his opening games.
That includes two Premier League victories and a dramatic 4-2 win over Olympiakos in the Champions League.
