Pochettino returns to former club Newell’s Old Boys as he ponders future amid Arsenal and Man Utd links

MAURICIO POCHETTINO returned to the first club he ever played for as speculation continues to grow about him joining either Arsenal or Manchester United.

The former Tottenham boss was visiting Argentine side Newell’s Old Boys where he came through the youth set-up and played for between 1989 and 1994.

On his arrival he was greeted by current members of staff of the club and was presented with a framed shirt.

While Poch was enjoying a trip back home, talk is ongoing in England about the potential of him taking the big jobs on the other side of North London or in Manchester.

Arsenal recently sacked Unai Emery and the South American is one of many names who appears to be in the frame for the vacancy.

Meanwhile, pressure continues to mount on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Man United after his side picked up just two points from games against promoted sides Sheffield United and Aston Villa.

But it is not just Premier League teams who are being linked with the ex-Spurs man.

Real Madrid and Bayern Munich are also said to be interested in bringing him to their clubs if Zinedine Zidane or Maurizio Sarri lose their jobs.

It appears Poch could soon have the pick of the top teams in Europe and it will be a case of which one he feels fits best.

The 47-year-old only took up management 10 years ago with Espanyol, before moving on to Southampton in 2013.

After a single season down on the south coast, he joined Spurs and guided them to successive top four finishes and a Champions League final.

Nobody yet knows what he will do next, but it seems all the biggest sides in Europe will be fighting over his expertise.
