However The Times report on the Portuguese coach, 45, being seen as not the right “fit or profile” for Arsenal.
Since taking over the Black Country club in the summer of 2017, he has led his side to promotion and seventh in the Premier League.
Following the much-discussed communication problems surrounding Emery’s time in North London, Nuno is not seen as a better option in this regard.
The Wolves manager has occasionally been spiky with the media, storming out of a press conference after a defeat at Southampton in April.
And given Emery’s difficulty in getting his point across to the press, as well as his players, other options are said to be being considered.
Freddie Ljungberg will take charge of Sunday’s trip to Norwich, kick-off 2pm, in a bid to end their seven-game winless run.
Should the interim coach impress, there is the chance he will be given the hotseat until the end of the season or beyond.
But Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers remains the standout candidate, albeit with the Foxes’ success making that a very tough signing to pull off.
Former Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino, Manchester City assistant coach Mikel Arteta and Napoli’s Carlo Ancelotti are also in the frame.
