Almiron gets his first Newcastle assist after 24 games and Twitter can’t believe it

MIGUEL ALMIRON has FINALLY bagged his first assist for Newcastle – and fans on social media can’t believe it.

The Magpies signed the winger back in January for what was then a record £20m fee from Atlanta United.

The 25-year-old played 10 games last season without scoring or getting an assist.

He has played 13 games this campaign, and finally recorded an assist as he set up Jetro Willems to fire the equaliser against Manchester City.

It came just three minutes after Raheem Sterling had put the champions ahead.

The game ended 2-2 after Stunners from Kevin De Bruyne and Jonjo Shelvey in the last ten minutes.

The next milestone to reach will be a goal – but footie fans were stunned that he had assisted a goal.

STILL TO SCORE

He has created 23 chances for his misfiring team-mates since moving to the Premier League.

Adam Cameron wrote on Twitter: “Almiron assist, finally!”

Nathan Thomas posted: “Almiron finally had a goal contribution!”

Another posted that “the end is nigh” after he contributed to the goal.

Charles Crook was ecstatic at seeing the hurdle jumped, writing: “Its so good to finally see Almiron contribute towards a goal.

“He’s had lots of unlucky moments on the pitch since joining.”

Mark Mazzocchi thinks the assist should be a message to manager Steve Bruce, as he wrote: “Almiron on the left for 10 seconds: assist. Bruce, wake up.”
