Yet, unlike previous major tournaments, next year’s European Championships will be held across the entire continent with matches played out in various cities – including Wembley Stadium.

That could mean last-ditch flights for supporters, but also a rare opportunity to see the Three Lions in a competition on home soil.

When does Euro 2020 start?

The European tournament kicks off Friday, June 12 and lasts for a month.

Italy will star in the opening match at Stadio Olimpico.

The final will be held on Sunday, July 12 at Wembley Stadium.

With an increase from 16 to 24 teams, there will be a total of 51 games taking place.

What venues are being used?

There will be a total of 12 venues being used across Europe, ranging from Dublin in Ireland to Baku in Azerbaijan.

Each group has been assigned two stadiums, with the host nations playing in their own grounds should they have qualified.

  • Stadio Olimpico – Rome, Italy
  • Olympic Stadium – Baku, Azerbaijan

Can you still get tickets for Euro 2020?

We may still be over six months away from the tournament, but tickets have already been flying.

Uefa began the application window with a year to go on June 12, closing it a month later.

Some fans would have been left unhappy with only a limited number on offer.

The next round of applications will be opened in December for teams that have already qualified for the tournament.

April 2020 will see another application window open for those who have progressed through the play-offs.

Tickets will only be sold through the official Uefa Euro 2020 ticket system, so  keep your eyes peeled here.
