SHOCKING stats show that Kepa Arrizabalaga has the lowest save percentage in the Premier League this season.
However, Chelsea fans are split over the shock revelation after Kepa saved a penalty in last night’s Champions League clash with Valencia.
The Spaniard is the most expensive goalkeeper in history after joining Chelsea from Athletic Bilbao for £71.6million in 2018.
He played 54 times under Maurizio Sarri as the Blues won last season’s Europa League.
And Kepa has so far featured in games under Frank Lampard in the current campaign.
However, fans are yet to be convinced by the 25-year-old, who is now Spain’s No 1 between the sticks.
Kepa saved a number of penalties last season, including a couple in the Europa League semi-final shootout win over Eintracht Frankfurt.
But the stats shows that he is some way off matching the likes of Man City’s Ederson and Leicester’s Kasper Schmeichel.
For example, the Dane has the best save percentage in the Premier League at 80 per cent.
While Kepa has the lowest, a staggering 48.7 per cent.
He has made just 19 saves from 39 shots, and conceded an absolute howler in last night’s 2-2 draw at the Mestalla.
Yet fans can’t seem to decide if he is the real deal.
One wrote: “Kepa Arrizabalaga is probably the most confusing goalkeeper on the planet.”
Another said: “Kepa is a penalty merchant. That’s his bread and butter. Other than that he’s a below average goalkeeper.”
One noted: “Kepa’s prevented us from losing and winning at the same time. Not a great day for him.”
Another added: “Impossible to understand how Kepa is the world’s most expensive GK.
“He makes the odd spectacular save but that’s not enough.
“Statistically poor this season and last, weak wrists, bad at coming for cross, and poor distribution for someone who’s supposedly great with his feet.”
