Pochettino’s son Maurizio plays for Spurs U19s for first time since dad was sacked and replaced by Jose Mourinho

MAURICIO POCHETTINO’S son Maurizio played for Spurs in the Uefa Youth League for the first time since his dad was sacked by the club.

The winger, 18, has already had a chat with Jose Mourinho about his future and the new boss wants the player to get his head down and keep playing — while also recognising it is a delicate family situation.

Pochettino Jr came off the bench in their 1-0 win over Olympiakos Under-19s as Spurs kept alive their hopes of reaching the knockout stages of the Youth League.

Young hopeful Troy Parrott, 17, bagged a 57th-minute winner to put Spurs one point behind Red Star Belgrade in Group B.

Bayern Munich look odds-on to win the group after beating Spurs 4-1 earlier in the campaign.

Winger Pochettino has two assists this season in Europe already, both coming in the incredible 9-2 drubbing of Red Star in October.

Bizarrely, Spurs lost the away game in Belgrade 2-0.

Mourinho said on Monday: “I spoke with his son, who is a player in our youth categories, and I think through his boy he can understand my feelings too.

“And of course I will call him. But I want to let him process.

“I also told the players in contact with him to make him feel completely free to come here any time he wants.

“If he wants to come for a training session, great. If he wants to come for a dinner in the lodge with the boys, perfect.

“If he wants me to be here, I will. If he doesn’t want me to be, and he just wants to be with the boys, let’s do that way.”
