West Ham put up a late fight to claw back two goals against Tottenham, but still slipped to a 3-2 defeat in Jose Mourinho’s first match in charge.

And former Newcastle boss Benitez, currently managing in China, is the front-runner to take over at the London Stadium.

The ex-Liverpool boss – who won the Champions League during his time at Anfield – is 7/4 favourite with Ladbrokes.

Ex-Brighton boss Chris Hughton – who also managed Newcastle – is 3/1 second-favourite, according to the odds.

Bournemouth chief Howe is 5/1, ahead of Chris Wilder (8/1) and recently-fired ex-Bayern Munich boss Niko Kovac (10/1).

Liverpool legend and current Rangers manager Steven Gerrard is also at 10s to land the top job at West Ham.

Former Watford chief Javi Gracia is a 12/1 shot, ahead of Massimiliano Allegri – who’s been out of work since leaving Juventus in the summer – at 16s.

Mauricio Pochettino, who was sacked by Tottenham earlier this week, is a 20/1 shot to move across London to take over at the Hammers.

David Moyes, the favourite to take over at Everton, is 25/1 for the West Ham job – level with Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa and ex-Norwich boss Alex Neil.

Arsene Wenger and Roberto Martinez are both 33/1 longshots for the gig.

Incredibly, Unai Emery is also at 33s for the West Ham job, with his future at Arsenal very much up in the air after yet another horror afternoon.
