DEONTAY Wilder last night delivered an explosive knockout as he shrugged off a WAG war after being accused of flirting with the wife of Manchester City’s Riyad Mahrez.
Friends of the footballer told how one of his sisters pulled Rita away from the boxing champ.
Ex-model Rita hit it off with Wilder after they were introduced in the VIP-section of the celebrity-packed nightclub.
A source said: “They were chatting intently, laughing and joking. You could see there was chemistry there and a real connection. But because of where it was, a lot of people noticed how well they seemed to be getting along.
“Rita was actually on a night out with Riyad’s sisters who she really gets on with.
“And they did not appear to be happy with what was going on. One even seemed to go and get Rita, to take her away from Deontay, who was of course trying to keep her with him.”
But Wilder seemingly hasn’t been disturbed by the speculation.
He last night came back from every round to Ortiz to deliver the knockout – and is now looking towards a bout with Tyson Fury.
Speaking after the match last night, the camp said: “I got my range and got my distance and pulled the trigger.
“Tyson Fury is definitely next and then I want to unify the division against the winner of Anthony Joshua vs Andy Ruiz Jr.”
WAG WAR
Reports of the encounter at Manchester’s Club Liv’s had quickly filtered back to Algerian winger Mahrez, a Muslim non-drinker who shuns the clubbing lifestyle of many Premier League starts.
Sources said he was “devastated” to hear how WBC champion Wilder, famed for his knockouts, had zeroed in on the 25-year-old mother of his two children.
And just a few weeks later, winger Leroy Sane’s girlfriend Candice Brook let rip in a string of abusive text messages to Rita.
Candice, who is a close pal of Wilder’s fiancee Telli Swift, branded Rita a “real groupie bitch” and added: “You eating with your fat ass stomach, lol.”
Rita then responded by saying Candice looks “like an old boy” and told her to “take that wig off”.
The extraordinary clash is the second wag war in a matter of weeks following allegations by Wayne Rooney’s wife Coleen that Rebekah Vardy — married to Mahrez’s former Leicester teammate Jamie — had been passing stories about her to the Press.
Coleen Rooney, 33, was dubbed “Wagatha Christie” as she tried to discover who had been leaking stories about her and England legend hubby Wayne, 34.
She later revealed she set an Instagram “trap” of false stories and pointed the blame at . . . Rebekah Vardy’s account.
