Two groups have tried recently, with one American consortium keen to do the deal and take over soon.
Addicks negotiators may even go across the Atlantic for a meeting in the next few weeks as the possible takeover creeps closer.
Duchatelet’s right-hand man in Belgium, Joseph Lieberman, is due to go Stateside for a summit that may bring his unpopular reign to an end.
Another team, advised by former Charlton scout and official Paul Senior, has also had meetings and are seeking to put the funds together for a buyout bid.
Fans have been protesting for years to try and force Duchatelet out of the club.
Question marks still remain over the future of boss Lee Bowyer.
He has impressed, guiding the club up to 13th on the back of promotion last season but his contract is up at the end of the season.
It is believed that Bowyer wants to stay at Charlton but a prospective new buyer may want to take the club in a new direction.
