PAUL MERSON entertained fans by suggesting Liverpool should be given the Premier League title after VAR controversy went their way again against Crystal Palace.
James Tomkins nodded home from a Luka Milivojevic free-kick, but, after a lengthy delay, the goal was ruled out by VAR after Jordan Ayew was judged to have pushed Dejan Lovren off the ball.

Merson was left a drained figure as a result of the controversy, leaving him with little left to add.
When Soccer Saturday presenter described Lovren as having needed a “stepladder to get to the ball”, Merson jokingly replied “shall we just give Liverpool the league now?”.
A number of football fans also took to social media to comment on how they feel VAR is being kind to the Merseyside club.
This led to ‘LiVARpool’ trending on Twitter, including one person photoshopping a screen with the VAR decision on it with a ‘whatever Liverpool want’ written underneath.

Liverpool went on to win the game 2-1 thanks to a late Roberto Firmino strike, something that left many Palace fans irritated by the decision.
One said: “Palace played great. We missed a few crucial chances which we need to take advantage of when playing LiVARpool.”
And another added: “Hideous VAR decision but well played Crystal Palace.”
Palace sit 13th in the Premier League table, without a win in four.
