Jose Mourinho considering Spurs transfer move for Juventus flop Adrien Rabiot

JOSE MOURINHO is reportedly considering a move for Juventus flop Adrien Rabiot.

Calciomercato claims the midfielder’s time in Turin is coming to an end, just six months after joining on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain.

Rabiot, 24, has only started four games under Maurizio Sarri this season.

And it’s said that new Spurs boss Mourinho is looking at the possibility of bringing him to the Premier League in January.

Tottenham were hoping to land Rabiot when he entered the final stages of his PSG deal last season.

But the France international could not resist the terms presented by Juventus, who already boasted five world-class central midfielders and made competition even fiercer by also landing Aaron Ramsey from Arsenal.

However, he has been unable to adapt to Sarri’s possession-orientated system as quickly as the Welshman.

And it’s reckoned Rabiot is still some way off full fitness after being exiled by PSG for the second half of their 2018/19 campaign.

His situation is said to have put Spurs on red alert following the sacking of Mauricio Pochettino.

And Mourinho will soon let the club know if he wants to sanction a move for the five-time Ligue 1 winner.

Juve have been linked with Spurs contract rebel Christian Eriksen, and could demand the Dane in exchange.

However, the report adds that Tottenham’s interest in Rabiot does not rest on letting Eriksen move in the opposite direction.

Indeed, it’s believed Mourinho would like to keep the playmaker in North London and will try to convince him to sign a new contract before he can hold talks with foreign clubs in January.

Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen will also hold talks over fresh deals, despite rejecting offers earlier this year.

Mourinho claimed at his first press conference that he’s happy with his new squad and doesn’t want to make many changes.

However, he’s already been linked with moves for Nemanja Matic, who he signed for both Chelsea and Man Utd, as well as Benfica’s Ruben Dias and Sporting Lisbon’s Bruno Fernandes.

It’s also reckoned Mourinho is eyeing Zlatan Ibrahimovic for a third time, with the pair already working together at United and Inter Milan.
