Lausanne, Switzerland, November 19, 2019 – The 2019 FIVB Volleyball Men’s Club World Championship in Betim, Brazil will be another great chance to see the top players in the sport go head to head. With just two weeks to go before the last world-level volleyball event of the year, we look at some of the players expected to take to the court from December 3-8.
Host team Sada Cruzeiro Volei are three-time winners of the competition. With victories in 2013, 2015 and 2016 to their name, their fans will hope that a strong contingent of Brazilian players including Evandro Guerra, Isac Santos, Filipe Ferraz and Fernando Kreling, and foreign players including Argentinian star Facundo Conte and Canadian John Gordon Perrin can help them claim honours again in 2019.
Sada Cruzeiro Volei – Players
Cucine Lube Civitanova were silver medallists in 2017 and 2018 and will aim to improve on those results at this year’s edition of the Men’s Club World Championship. The Italian and European champions feature a star-studded team including the likes of Italian star Osmany Juantorena, Brazilians Bruno Rezende and Yoandy Leal and Iranian Amir Ghafour.
Cucine Lube Civitanova – Players
Zenit Kazan are the second European team participating in the 2019 Men’s Club World Championship. They defeated Lube Civitanova to win the tournament in 2017 and will count on the likes of star Bulgarian points machine Tsvetan Sokolov to repeat that achievement. Other leading Kazan players include Frenchman Earvin Ngapeth and Russians Alexander Butko, Maxim Mikhaylov, Artem Volvich and Alexey Samoylenko.
Zenit Kazan – Players
Al-Rayyan of Qatar will be able to draw on the talents of players like Marco Ferreira, who was a key player for his country Portugal in this year’s FIVB Volleyball Nations League. Other international players for the club include Montenegrin international Marko Vukasinovic and Brazilian talent Marcus Vinicius.
