Inter sporting director Ausilio travels to London to work on transfer deal for Chelsea striker Giroud

INTER MILAN’S sporting director was in London this week working on a deal to sign Olivier Giroud, according to reports.

Tuttosport claim Piero Ausilio, 44, was at Wembley to see England’s 7-0 thrashing of Montenegro.

But he was not watching much of the action on the pitch and instead said to be talking with contacts behind the scenes.

Inter are keen on Tottenham pair Christian Eriksen and Jan Vertonghen, who both see their contracts expire in the summer.

But it is believed Inter’s main focus is on ex-Arsenal striker Giroud, who the Blues are considering selling for as little as £6million.

Giroud has struggled to cement a place in Frank Lampard’s side with Tammy Abraham in fine form.

The 33-year-old’s contract expires next summer and Inter would prefer to snap him up in January than wait until the new season.

Inter are said to be willing to offer the Frenchman an 18-month contract but want him to drop his £6.8m-a-year salary demands.

Giroud is desperate for playing time with an eye to being part of the France squad for next summer’s Euros.

And Les Bleus boss Didier Deschamps has urged the frontman to leave the club and save his international future.

French side Lyon have also been in touch with Giroud – who has made just four Premier League appearances all season – over a move.

Boss Lampard is preparing for a January exodus with Marcos Alonso and Pedro set to join Giroud out the door.

Inter, meanwhile, are just looking for some peace and quiet after a letter containing a BULLET was sent to the club.

Former Chelsea boss Antonio Conte, 50, was believed to be the intended subject of an anonymous envelope which also contained threats, according to reports in Italy.
