Here’s why we’ve made those selections..
- Newcastle to win: More riding on the game for Newcastle than Manchester United, who could have an eye on Thursday’s second leg too. That’s before taking into account the Toon have won four of last five games with United and are on a great run of form. Shortest price to beat Red Devils in some time and with good reason.
- Alexander Isak to score: Another chance for the Swede to show he’s the best striker around at present. Will have been kicking himself at not getting on scoresheet at King Power on Monday but always seems one for the bigger games and occasions. One goal in four league appearances against them.
- Bruno Fernandes to be carded: By far and away Man Utd’s best player. Only player with genuine quality. His problem this week is he’s up against the best midfield three in the country in Tonali, Bruno G and Joelinton. Will be a tough game physically for him and could quite comfortably add to his 26 fouls in 30 games and perhaps overspill.
- Fabian Schar 1+ shot on target: Outside shout to boost the odds but does have 0.25 shots on target per 90 minutes this season. Inches away from stunning goal from own half on Monday and his driving runs with shots to finish have become a regular occurrence in this Newcastle side. Also a threat in air from set pieces in a big, big team.
