Andoni Iraola’s side romped into a 2-0 lead with two goals in two first-half minutes from Dango Ouattara and Ryan Christie.

The second goal was set up by Kluivert as he assisted Christie before the shot.

But it was the Dutchman’s actions after the half-time whistle that caught Deeney’s attention.

The Cherries star could be seen giving his shirt to a supporter in the home end as he walked down the tunnel at the break.

It left Deeney baffled as he reported on the match.

He said on talkSPORT: “Bournemouth haven’t even got to a point yet where it feels like they’re about to take the handbrake off.

“Any little ball around the corner and a one-two, they’re in. And Southampton cannot keep up making these last-ditch tackles.

“I’ve counted five so far on my notes where it’s a last-ditch tackle. If they get that wrong either, they’re going through on goal 1v1 Bournemouth.
