Aston Villa vs Celtic preview
There’s a terrific fixture list for the last league phase game in Europe’s main club competition.
But the stand-out for us comes as Aston Villa and Celtic go toe-to-toe – both with chances of finishing inside that top eight position.
Villa go into the game in ninth, only behind eighth placed Leverkusen on goal difference.
They’d have had a much kinder final match day had they not flopped in Monaco last week, losing 1-0 to the French side.
Throwing away a lead to end up hanging on for a draw at home to West Ham a few days ago, Villa have stumbled since that terrific come-from-behind draw at the Emirates.
Celtic’s eyes were just on a top-24 spot heading into their penultimate match day against Young Boys last week.
A late, fortunate OG secured that and they now have an outside chance of a top-eight spot.
In reality, they’ll be glad to have secured knockout stage football of any kind and can come here with the pressure off.
But the departure of talisman Kyogo this week and the absence of Daizen Maeda through suspension really harms their chances of causing an upset south of the border.

Aston Villa vs Celtic predictions and tips
All-square
Celtic don’t get beat very often and Villa haven’t looked particularly great in their last two games.
The Hoops will struggle without the out-ball of Maeda through suspension and Kyogo’s departure is a huge blow in that central striker role.
But they still have more than enough to trouble Villa while also keeping their forward line relatively quiet.

His name is Reo
Reo Hatate will be the next big departure out of Celtic, such is his terrific ability in the middle of the park.
Without his fellow countrymen, he’ll need to step up more than ever but can pick up clever pockets of space and is a danger on the ball in the final third.
May not get too many chances to attack or have space high up the pitch but Celtic will surprise a few here.
- Reo Hatate 1+ shot on target at 2/1 with William Hill – CLAIM HERE
