Amorim, 39, saw his team get off to another fast start as Alejandro Garnacho netted the opening goal in just 48 SECONDS.

However, just like against Ipswich Town, Man United struggled to maintain the lead.

The visitors hit back with goals from Hakon Evjen and former Nottingham Forest loanee Philip Zinckernagel to take the lead.

Rasmus Hojlund netted an equaliser for the hosts in the 45th minute but Amorim still rang the changes in the second half.

Diogo Dalot replaced Tyrell Malacia at half-time to take up the spot on the left side of defence.

After Hojlund netted the go-ahead goal in the 50th minute with a brilliant finish, Amorim made more changes to his backline.

Luke Shaw replaced Lisandro Martinez and Casemiro was sent on in the place of Matthijs de Ligt.

This left the Red Devils without a recognised centre-back on the pitch.

Out of possession, the team switched to a back four of Dalot, Shaw, Casemiro and Noussair Mazraoui.

The bonkers change worked for the side as it stifled the Eliteserien outfit’s attack.

Man United were able to hold out to claim their first victory under Amorim and lift themselves to 12th in the Europa League league phase.

Heat maps from after the match showed that the players were given unique roles.

Martinez and Mazraoui could be seen bombing up and down the wings.

Bruno Fernandes was used mostly on the left side of the attack, while Mason Mount had the responsibility of the right side.

Meanwhile, despite scoring a vital brace, Amorim decided to criticise Hojlund after the game.

The manager insisted that the striker “needs to improve” and claimed that he was taking “too many” touches on the ball.

Amorim also made a bold decision before the match as he slashed two names off his team-sheet.

He opted to only name ten substitutes on the bench despite being allowed 12.
