Rodgers was all smiles after his team raced into a three-goal lead at a soggy Hamden Park.

But his glee quickly turned to embarrassment as he stacked it in the pouring Glasgow rain.

The 51-year-old took a wild swipe at the ball as it dribbled in front of the dugouts in first-half stoppage time.

Rodgers bizarrely smashed the ball back into play, despite Celtic’s comfortable 3-0 lead.

Unfortunately for Rodgers, he was swiftly booked by laughing referee Kevin Clancy for kicking the ball away.

Following the game, Rodgers was shown the clip by Premier Sports and laughed: “That’s poor!

“It was just the game. I wanted us to play that fraction quicker.

Rodgers added: “We have to manage this group through every game.
