Former Bayern Munich and Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel is set to replace the recently departed Southgate in the Wembley hotseat.

The German agreed a lucrative deal to take charge of the Three Lions this week following whirlwind talks with the FA.

Tuchel is expected to be officially unveiled as Southgate’s successor on Wednesday, although he won’t take charge of the team until January.

The 51-year-old will likely make London, where he lived for just over a year and a half, his base of operations.

He left the Big Smoke after being sacked by Chelsea in September 2022.

And his other half is expected to move to the capital with him.

Tuchel has been dating Brazilian Natalie Max, who is 13 years his junior, since May 2022.

The veteran manager began his relationship with Max following his divorce from his wife of 13 years, Sissi.

ANDY DILLON: Thomas Tuchel has all the ingredients to become a classic England manager – tactical nous, drive and a tangled love life

By Andy Dillon

THOMAS TUCHEL possesses all the ingredients to become a classic England manager.

Tactical nous, drive, energy, experience – a tangled love life.

English football should welcome back the most explosive, dynamic, charismatic and impossibly tall and gangly coach to have lit up the Premier League.

Chelsea’s colourful former boss has been leading a settled life in Munich of late.

Far enough away from ex-wife Sissi but close enough to see his two daughters.

Walking his dog in the streets in the east of Germany’s most fashionable city, residing in the posh Bogenhausen area. Living relatively quietly with his Brazilian girlfriend.

Tuchel is a vastly different personality to the man who led England quietly but assuredly to the brink of World Cups and European Championships.

An excitable nature can make him hard to handle for those seeking calm and who like to impose their way on a manager they view very much as an underling.

Despite their best efforts to save their marriage, the former couple – who have two children together – went their separate ways in April 2022.

Tuchel looked the picture of happiness when he was spotted with Max for the first time whilst on holiday in Sardinia.

Combustible Thomas Tuchel is a short term manager – but he’s the best choice for England

A close friend told the Daily Mail: “Tuchel and Natalie are smitten with each other.

“They’ve been dating since May and things are already getting serious between them.

“Natalie flew to Sardinia to join Thomas on their first holiday and they’ve been spending a lot of quality time together in West London, where she lives with her two children and dog.

“Tuchel is really lovely and has made Natalie’s friends feel welcome, he’s definitely in this for the long haul.”

Max, 37, is a director at consulting agency Natexo, a position she’s held since March 2014.

Not much else is known about the brunette, who seemingly likes to keep a relatively low profile.

But that will change in the coming months now that her other half has accepted arguably the biggest job in world football.
