Fans ask ‘do they hate him?’ as Micah Richards gets savaged live on CBS Sports with segment dedicated to his mistakes

MICAH RICHARDS had his Aston Villa career dissected by his CBS Sports co-stars during Wednesday night’s Champions League coverage.

Richards was alongside the usual crew of Kate Abdo, Thierry Henry and Jamie Carragher for the European clashes.

With Aston Villa’s matchup with Bayern Munich one of the biggest games of the night, the CBS panel began discussing Richards’ four-year spell with the Villans.

But instead of glowing about the twilight of the 36-year-old’s career, the pundits ripped into his time at Villa Park – pulling up some damning stats as evidence.

A stats graphic, hilariously titled “Big Meeks: Four glorious years at Aston Villa”, painted the picture of his injury riddled spell in Birmingham.

Showing that Richards had made just 31 appearances during the four-tear stint, missing 142 games and being an unused substitute 41 times.

But the teasing didn’t stop there, Carragher then got up some old videos of a number of the former Man City star’s in-game mistakes – talking them through live on CBS Sports.

The retired Liverpool centre-back highlighted four goals that Richards was as fault for during his playing days with Villa, showing clips of defensive mistakes against Arsenal, Norwich, Everton and Southampton.

Fans couldn’t believe how much Richards’ colleague had ripped into him and took to social media to react.

One wrote: “Do they hate him? Jeez”.

A third commented: “They did big Meeks dirty”.

And a fourth joked: “This is the beginning of Micah’s villain arc”.

Richards was a good sport and laughed it all off, while giving an explanation for why he struggled for form at Villa.

Joshing: “I was in a bad place guys, but I did score a goal!”

Richards has made a habit of being picked on since taking his role at CBS and in a recent interview with The Ringer, the show’s coordinating producer Pete Radovich explained that he has embraced the role.

Radovich said: “As the show organically took shape, it was clear to us that Micah was going to be the little brother that everyone picked on, and it just so happens he’s in the last chair [on set].”

While Richards added that he “never takes it to heart”.

Aston Villa certainly didn’t need Richards for their clash with Bayern on Wednesday, pulling off a spectacular 1-0 win over the European giants at Villa Park.
