‘He will go’ says Jamie Carragher as he warns Newcastle that Eddie Howe will leave for dream job if he isn’t happy

EDDIE HOWE will leave Newcastle to become England boss if he is not happy, claims Jamie Carragher.

The pundit discussed the Magpies’ issues with financial fair play rules, which meant they had to sell young prospects and failed to land a marquee signing.

Carragher believes Newcastle could even have to sell one of their big stars for a lot of money in the future, which could lead Howe to become unhappy.

The Toon boss already expressed his disappointment in having to sell youngsters like Yankuba Minteh and Elliot Anderson, with Carragher highlighting the pressure from supporters on club chiefs.

Carragher also brought up Howe’s links to the England job and claimed he would not hesitate to jump ship if he became unhappy at St. James’ Park.

He told Sky Sports: “I think the bigger for them right now is that if they got beat today (against Tottenham) and they go into the international break there will be a lot of negativity.

“There’s a lot of pressure from the supporters on Darren Eales the CEO, on Paul Mitchell the sporting director as well.

“They’ve got to be very careful that they don’t lose Eddie Howe because Howe is the number one person in most people’s eyes for the England job and if that carries on the way it’s going, if he’s not happy, he’s going to go to the England job.”

Newcastle would have been hit with a 10-point deduction for breaching Profit and Sustainability rules if they did not sell Minteh and Anderson.

They were also frustrations on the transfer front as Howe was unable to bring in his number one target Marc Guehi.
