45: Oof! How about that. Toby Collyer, born in Worthing, comes on to replace Casemiro. He’s making his Premier League debut at 20-years-old. Very ruthless from Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag. No changes for Liverpool, obviously.

Gary Neville on Sky Sports said: “That feels a big moment. I don’t know how that conversation has gone at half time when Ten Hag has hooked Casemiro in front of all his team-mates.

“I don’t think he would have brought him off for the two mistakes. I think it was what happened after that and the reaction of the crowd.

    “I feel for him…”

HT: Manchester United undone in seven first-half minutes after some clinical finishing from Liverpool and a helping hand from Casemiro.

The Merseyside outfit on their way to a perfect 100% record from their opening three fixtures, while United are starring down the barrel of a second-consecutive defeat.

  • MAN UTD 0-2 LIVERPOOL

46: I think you have to call that a “good foul” from Kobbie Mainoo, who chops Ryan Gravenberch for the second time in 60 seconds as he travelled forward with options. He’s booked.

  • MAN UTD 0-2 LIVERPOOL

45: Manchester United just need the half-time whistle now, but there’s going to be five minutes added on.

  • MAN UTD 0-2 LIVERPOOL

44: Two goals in seven minutes. Big task from here. Almost scared to transcribe what Roy Keane is going to say about Casemiro during the half-time break.

  • MAN UTD 0-2 LIVERPOOL – DIAZ

42: Goal! Double delight for Luis Diaz, who grabs his second of the afternoon and extends Liverpool’s advantage at Old Trafford.

And… it’s another Casemiro error. The Brazilian midfielder gets shrugged off the ball too easily by Diaz, who plays a one-two with Mohamed Salah before guiding the ball beautifully past Andre Onana.

  • MAN UTD 0-1 LIVERPOOL

40: Save! The ball falls kindly to the feet of defender Noussair Mazraoui, who strikes a low effort from the edge of the penalty area. Alisson makes the block, which wasn’t a given seeing as it travelled through the legs of Virgil van Dijk.

Lisandro Martinez is booked for a ridiculously late challenge on Dominik Szoboszlai. Completely needless and now the centre-back will have to be careful.

  • MAN UTD 0-1 LIVERPOOL

38: That’s really knocked the stuffing out of the Manchester United supporters. They have been fairly happy with what they’ve been seeing but the mistake from Casemiro was calamitous.

Gary Neville on Sky Sports: “Casemiro with a player of such experience the amount of times he gives the ball away in bad areas.

“He has no pressure on him and it’s a first time pass he tries. Liverpool have made mistakes in these areas, but Mo Salah is class and the cross is delicious.”

  • MAN UTD 0-1 LIVERPOOL – DIAZ

35: Goal! Oh Casemiro… he gives the ball away under no pressure whatsoever in midfield and Manchester United are punished emphatically.

Mohamed Salah is quickly released down the right channel and his lofted cross reaches the back post, where Luis Diaz and Dominik Szoboszlai are both unmarked with the Colombian getting the all-important head on it.

Mohamed Salah has been directly involved in 16 goals against Manchester United in the Premier League (11 goals, five assists); the most of any player.

  • MAN UTD 0-0 LIVERPOOL

34: Manchester United broke from that corner but Noussair Mazraoui’s shot dribbles wide. Tough to actually call a chance I’m afraid.

  • MAN UTD 0-0 LIVERPOOL

33: Good read by Matthijs de Ligt, who intercepts a lovely ball forward from Diogo Jota looking for Luis Diaz. Would almost certainly have been the opener.

Liverpool win their first corner of the afternoon as Diogo Dalot clears it. Virgil Van Dijk plants himself on Andre Onana with the referee coming over to have a word. Trent Alexander-Arnold attempts a clever short routine but it’s quickly snuffed out.

  • MAN UTD 0-0 LIVERPOOL

30: Half-hour on the clock and it remains goalless at Old Trafford. It’s been fairly even but aside from Trent Alexander-Arnold’s disallowed goal — we’ve not really seen either goalkeeper threatened.

In fact, United have an xG of 0.00 and Liverpool’s isn’t much better at 0.07…

  • MAN UTD 0-0 LIVERPOOL

27: Ryan Gravenberch has been pretty impressive in the middle of the park until this point. He’s just capitalised on an error from Casemiro but his final ball forward isn’t the best.

  • MAN UTD 0-0 LIVERPOOL

24: Erik ten Hag gives Matthijs de Ligt some tactical advice on the touchline, which he goes across and delivers to Lisandro Martinez. “Score, sharpish,” I imagine he said.

Joshua Zirkzee collects the first yellow of the afternoon for pulling Mohamed Salah’s shirt. Bit silly given the Egyptian was in his own half!

  • MAN UTD 0-0 LIVERPOOL

21: Dangerous times for Manchester United. Ryan Gravenberch intercepts Lisandro Martinez’s poor forward pass and releases Diogo Jota. Martinez makes amends when tackling Mohamed Salah.

Mainoo is receiving treatment after getting clattered during Gravenberch’s tackle. He’s alright.

  • MAN UTD 0-0 LIVERPOOL

18: Very end-to-end this. Like an FA Cup tie, which I’m sure Manchester United won’t mind given the madness of that fixture last season. Alejandro Garnacho flies down the right but he’s stuck in two minds and isn’t able to find Marcus Rashford in the middle.

  • MAN UTD 0-0 LIVERPOOL

15: The Red Devils win their second corner of the game courtesy of Marcus Rashford. Bruno Fernandes’ delivery again isn’t the best and Virgil Van Dijk clears.

“Both sides playing some decent stuff, I hope they can keep this up,” says Gary Neville.

  • MAN UTD 0-0 LIVERPOOL

13: So often Manchester United’s best player when I’m watching them, Diogo Dalot cruises past Trent Alexander-Arnold but then sees his cross headed out by Virgil van Dijk.

  • MAN UTD 0-0 LIVERPOOL

10: The crowd has gone up a few decibels since that disallowed goal. Liverpool have also taken it up a few notches with their speed of attack. United now pinned inside their own half.

Everyone can regain their breath a bit with Alexis Mac Allister down after a challenge from Manchester United midfielder Casemiro. He’s fine to continue after a bit of treatment.

  • MAN UTD 0-0 LIVERPOOL

8: Shame for Trent Alexander-Arnold there, who kissed the camera in celebration.

  • MAN UTD 0-0 LIVERPOOL – DISALLOWED GOAL

6: Trent Alexander-Arnold thinks he’s given Liverpool the lead – but it’s chalked off for offside!

Virgil Van Dijk played a lovely pass through to Ryan Gravenberch, who carried it forward unchallenged before releasing Luis Diaz. His cutback is deflected back to Trent by Mohamed Salah – but the Egyptian was in an offside position.

  • MAN UTD 0-0 LIVERPOOL

5: Must do better! Bruno Fernandes embarks on a marauding run through the middle of the park but his pass to Joshua Zirkzee isn’t great.

Virgil Van Dijk then intercepts another fairly weak pass from United’s captain in midfield before releasing Diogo Jota, who tamely fires wide.

  • MAN UTD 0-0 LIVERPOOL

3: Manchester United keeping the ball nicely in these very early stages. Pinging some nice one-touch passes about with Marcus Rashford have a crack at Trent Alexander-Arnold down United’s left. He’s cutback is blocked behind for a corner.

Alexis Mac Allister clears Bruno Fernandes’ corner.

  • MAN UTD 0-0 LIVERPOOL

1: And we’re underway at Old Trafford folks.

“They can’t be any worse than last season,” were the final words from ex-Manchester United midfielder Roy Keane.

Gary Neville added: “Erik Ten Hag can’t be in mid-table at Christmas. He can’t. There is some pressure. This is a game he can’t lose.”

    Nice and positive.

  • Welcome

Manchester United’s new recruit Manuel Ugarte has just been paraded to rapturous applause at Old Trafford.

The 23-year-old Uruguay international wasn’t signed in time to play today, but he should be ready to roll after the international break.
