Leeds icon Marcelo Bielsa pulls ‘another madness’ and set to call up AMATEUR footballer to Uruguay squad

Walter Dominguez has been scoring goals for fun at semi-pro level

And the 68-year-old is ready to lead Uruguay to the Copa America this summer.

In preparation for the tournament, they face Costa Rica in a friendly on May 31.

With reports from TNT Argentina claiming Bielsa will give a first international call-up to amateur player Walter Dominguez.

The 24-year-old striker plays for semi-professional side Juventud de Soriano.

And he has scored a remarkable 38 goals in 19 games.

Dominguez could line-up alongside the likes of Liverpool star Darwin Nunez and Real Madrid ace Federico Valverde.

Bielsa is set to give him his chance as he’s not able to call-up players from top Uruguayan sides like Nacional, Penarol, Liverpool, Racing and Danubia due to their runs in the Copa Libertadores and Sudamericana.

On rumours of his shock call-up, Dominguez said: “They called me and I am very happy. I didn’t expect it and it was a surprise.”

Fans could not believe Bielsa’s latest unique move, with one saying: “That’s incredible.”

Bielsa is no stranger to the eccentric after his antics at Leeds.

The managerial legend used to watch games while sitting on a bucket and was at the centre of the “spygate” scandal.

He sent a spy to secretly watch training sessions at promotion rivals Derby.

When caught, he then did a lengthy presentation in a press conference showing the incredible attention to detail he would put into every match.

Bielsa also reportedly demanded a fireplace be installed at the club’s training ground and new light switches on the walls.
