BRENTWOOD goalkeeper Melvin Minter was accused of timewasting in the most creative fashion during a match against Bury Town.

The Blues visited Bury in their Isthmian League North Division play-off semi-final on Tuesday at Ram Meadow.

Brentwood won 3-1 and advanced to the final where they were ultimately beaten by Bowers & Pitsea 3-2 on penalties after a 1-1 draw.

Minter, 29, went viral during the semi-final’s closing stages as he tripped during an attempt to take on a goal-kick.

The fans accused the keeper of deliberate timewasting as he then went on to wipe his face with his towel.

The referee showed the Brentwood No1 a yellow card after the bizarre incident.

A clip of the howler went viral with football fans going absolutely crazy on social media and some even comparing Minter to Aston Villa’s notorious wind-up goalkeeper Emi Martinez.

One fan tweeted: “Time wasting at its finest.”
